I just posted some of my own musings a few minutes ago.

I'm glad to hear you liked the soundtrack. I really enjoyed Hooper's score for Phoenix and felt initially disappointed by this one, but then I've only seen the movie once. I will have to give the whole score a real listen sometime. Is it definite he's not coming back to compose for the final two films? That will be interesting, given how closely his music and Yates' direction have worked in the last two films. My favorite HP score is actually Patrick Doyle's for Goblet of Fire...I would love to see him return as the composer for the final films! I would love to see him build on the "Harry in Winter" theme from Goblet for the Forest of Dean/Silver Doe scenes in DH.

I enjoyed a lot of things in this film, but missed a lot too. I'm with you...the movies are fun, but they could never, ever take the place of the books.

Broadbent was terrific!Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08589856495993730380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22592688.post-2186965519125512292009-08-09T13:40:55.285-07:002009-08-09T13:40:55.285-07:00I guess they can always have Harry look into some ...I guess they can always have Harry look into some of those many memories in that cool looking cabinet. The problem there is that Harry isn't returning to school.

So, maybe Harry will have to find some of Dumbledore's notes or ideas in some other way. And I guess they could just have Harry say, "Well, Dumbledore told me. . . ", though that seems a bit contrived.

I liked this movie and look forward to the last two, but I will always love the books more. They are just better, more interesting, more complete.

PatEeyorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01934178312263962578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22592688.post-59233407622759625712009-08-09T13:01:52.336-07:002009-08-09T13:01:52.336-07:00Very much enjoyed your review - so many great obse...Very much enjoyed your review - so many great observations.

I too wondered about the missing information in the film regarding the other horcruxes. The trio will now suspect there are six (plus Voldemort = 7). That means three down three to go.

I suppose it is easy enough to deduce/guess the other founders' objects as suspects, given that one is known to have been used. That appears at first to account for all three.

When the trio discover that the whereabouts of the cup and the diadem are unknown it will strongly suggest to them that these may have been used to create horcruxes.

Then the trio find out that the sword of Griffindor is not a horcrux.

So how will they suspect Nagini? I just have no ideas about that???SeaJaynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22592688.post-55664842650137731152009-08-07T18:19:27.930-07:002009-08-07T18:19:27.930-07:00Why, thank you for your kind words. I felt like it was all a bit disorganized, but I was afraid if I took the time to put it together properly I would never get it done, much like many of my thoughts on the books and the movies and things in general. I could benefit from a Pensieve that would collect my thoughts rather than just my memories.Eeyorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01934178312263962578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22592688.post-74035162474097257732009-08-07T14:46:13.765-07:002009-08-07T14:46:13.765-07:00Beautiful review, Pat. I enjoyed your observations, and agree with almost all of them. It's not often that I would write this on a blog, but thank you for walking me through the movie again and letting me see it through your eyes.

Red RockerAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22592688.post-72605637502350343672009-08-07T09:18:30.054-07:002009-08-07T09:18:30.054-07:00I don't really think so. Ron and Hermione always had a different interaction that hinted of attraction to each other.Eeyorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01934178312263962578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22592688.post-45884445868668297282009-08-07T09:08:51.802-07:002009-08-07T09:08:51.802-07:00One comment I will make is that although I picture...One comment I will make is that although I pictured Lavender differently than she was casted, I found it intriguing that she looked a little like Hermione/Emma Watson. Is Ron attracted to her as a Hermione substitute?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
